ONE BRICK AT A TIME:
A COLLECTION OF SHARED EXPERIENCES
One Brick at a Time > Home
Dear Interested Questionnaire Participant,
Thank you for considering sharing your experiences of the early days of your settlement into Wollongong and the surrounding areas. The questionnaire at hand and also downloadable on this website is designed to start a file of true life historical stories. It will extend the many recorded facts about the early days of immigration with your awareness of what it was really like to be part of it all. Please have the stories written in English.
The idea to collect these stories - and we hope yours is among them - developed from the Wollongong City Council’s NOT MISSIN’ THE NISSEN project of VIVA LA GONG 2009 and follows the initiatives of the Illawarra Migration Heritage Project’s continuing interest in receiving and recording information of the area for historical purposes.
At this point, all the stories – signed or anonymous - will be kept on file for interesting reading available for those who wish to access them with permission from the MHP. It is hoped that in the future, some people may be contacted for the further development of these stories into plays, as artworks, or perhaps placed on a website for interest. No stories will be used - other than being held in a file as a reading and historical resource - without the participant’s explicit permission.
Feel free to contact me if there are any further questions. If you wish to email your response in this document, please email it directly to MHP (mhp@1earth.net). If you need more pages to allow your full story to be told, please attach more pages to your returned questionnaire. The more detailed stories you supply, the better they are! It should all make for fascinating reading!
Post stories to:

Thank you in advance for the generous contribution of your story to this important project. There is no deadline for these stories to be collected, but sooner rather than later is suggested.
